St. Lazarus’ Church

St. Lazarus’ Church, one of the three ancient churches in Macau. It was built between 1557 and 1560. At that time, the first bishop of Macao established a leprosy hospital here. In 1576, it became the cathedral of Macao. Every time the new bishop takes office, they will go to this church for the inauguration. Because the Cathedral is too close to the lepers, the Cathedral is now built in another location, and the St. Lazarus’ Church that was seen today was rebuilt in 1886.
